Biography

I am a native of Bethesda, Maryland who discovered the joys of the Pioneer Valley while attending Amherst College. I received an excellent education at Amherst, but more importantly met my future wife, Cheryl. I returned to my home state for medical training at The University of Maryland School of Medicine, graduating in 1986. Cheryl and I enjoyed New England, so we moved to Boston for my residency at the New England Medical Center/Boston Floating Hospital. After staying an extra year as Chief Resident, it was time to find a real job. Happily there was an opening at Northampton Area Pediatrics so we jumped at the chance to return to the Pioneer Valley and have stayed here ever since.

I thoroughly enjoy the practice of Pediatrics. In what other profession can you find the personal satisfaction of helping others while they help you "keep it real". My little patients are never afraid to pull on my nose or tell me how old I'm getting (they ask me where my hair is going, and point to the old pictures on the wall), and I admire them for that. It is a privilege to help both children and parents through illness and health.

I have many other interests in life, including spending time with my two wonderful boys and wife. I participate in community projects and have a great love for sports, especially hockey, and music. I have also been spotted around town practicing and teaching karate.
