Janet Anderson

May '09 Employee of the Month

Not many families meet Janet in person, but she has been working behind the scenes to help keep Northampton Area Pediatrics a smooth-running office.  Thanks to Janet for all of her hard work over the last dozen years!

An interview with Janet...

How long have you been with Northampton Area Pediatrics?

Since 1996; 13 years this coming October.

Where did you work prior to coming to NAP?

I worked as a receptionist in another doc's office in the area. Prior to that I worked at Calvin Coolidge nursing home for many years. This was back when it was called Pioneer Valley.  I first worked as an aide, then as the medical secretary on the head injury unit.

How do you like working here?

It is like one big happy family. We have good days and bad days.

What are your responsibilities within the office?

I make appointments and do referrals, but my main job is doing the scanning to make sure all reports are in the CMR in a timely fashion.  My favorite part is the scanning.

What do you do outside of work?

A lot of knitting and crocheting.

I have 2 children and 5 grandchildren. There are four [grandchildren] in the area that I see frequently, and one that lives out of state.  I call my daughter’s children "My three boys."

We used to have horses and ride horseback.  When the kids were little we used to go camping in a tent, all over the US.  We spent time in the National Forests.  My daughter used to bring a rock home from every camp and said she’d remember where each one came from.  I remember Pike's Peak: one night in May there was a snowstorm and we woke to the frigid weather.  The most beautiful scene was at Zion National Park. We were in a boxed in canyon, and for just moments as the sun set, the wall of the canyon was a gleaming gold.
