Although
I was born and raised in Arizona, I have lived in Northampton since
1979. I fell in love with small town New England while going to
Albany Medical College and commuting from Williamstown where my
husband was teaching at Williams College. I had done my undergraduate
studies at Stanford University, and after medical school returned
west for residency at Children's Hospital in Seattle, Washington.
When I was finished, we headed back to New England where my husband
joined the faculty at Smith College and I worked at the emergency
room at Cooley Dickinson Hospital, filled in for a pediatrician
on leave, and worked in the pediatric clinic at Baystate Medical
Center.
In 1981 I became the third doctor at what is now
Northampton Area Pediatrics. I love pediatrics! It's so much fun
watching infants grow and develop into the people that they will
be. I love being part of helping parents gain confidence in their
abilities to guide their children through life. Pediatrics is fun.
At the dinner table, my three grown children were
always clamoring for "a funny story from the office" about
the antics of a nameless child that made me laugh that day. As a
trustee for the Clarke School for the Deaf and Center for Oral Education,
I have a special interest in hearing impairment. Outside the office
I like to rollerblade, ski, and knit.
