CPSC Recalls Graco Harmony High Chair Due to Safety

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced the recall over 1 million Graco Harmony High Chairs because the pose a fall hazard to children. The agency has received 464 reports resulting in 24 injuries of children.

Graco Children’s Products Inc of Atlanta GA is cooperating fully with the recall that includes model numbers of chairs manufactured between November 2003 and December 2009. Approximately 1.2 million were distributed in the U.S. and 35,000 in Canada. The high chair is no longer in production.

Graco has received 464 reports of the screws holding the front legs of the high chair loosening and falling out. The instability of the chair can cause cracking plastic brackets on the rear legs that can cause the high chair to tip over unexpectedly.

Of the reports, 24 have resulted in mostly minor injuries, including bumps, bruises, cuts and scratches to the head and body. The most serious was a hairline fracture of the arm.
