Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
I have known that I wanted to be a pediatric health care provider since I was 14 and started volunteering in the nursery and pediatrics at Roosevelt Hospital in New York City. I won a community service award for all the hours I put in there because I loved every minute of it, and went as often as I could throughout high school. It felt like such a privilege to contribute to the care of children and families, either during the pivotal moment around the birth of a new baby, or during the stress of the unexpected hospitalization of a child. I had the wonderful fortune to be introduced during that time to a family friend who was a nurse practitioner and I knew after talking to her that I had found my career path. I’m lucky to find that more than 20 years later, I still can’t imagine doing anything else.
After completing a BA at Williams College, I spent a year living in South America doing public health volunteer work and speaking Spanish full time. I then moved to New Haven to complete my graduate degree at Yale. I had always assumed I would work in primary care, but soon discovered a passion for caring for children with complex special health care needs. After graduation, I took a job in the Genetics department at Yale, where I helped manage the Newborn screening program for southern CT and also cared for children with a wide variety of genetic and metabolic conditions. A few years later, I found a position that felt like a perfect fit for my interests, providing primary care for children with complex special health care needs at Boston Children’s Hospital.
I’ve loved this area since going to college in the Berkshires, and chose to move here with my son before he started elementary school. I love the views and the proximity to the river and living in a town small enough that I run into friends and neighbors everywhere I go. I am thrilled to be working at NAP, where I will further deepen my roots in this community, providing care for those same friends and neighbors.
