We are excited to begin offering lactation services at Northampton Area Pediatrics. Kate Bohne, IBCLC will be available by appointment in both the Amherst and Northampton locations for individual consultations and weight rechecks related to infant feeding.  She will also stop by as families are meeting with providers during baby's early visits to introduce herself.

We're also happy to offer a second Breastfeeding Support Group at the Northampton location.  Now, two days each week, there are opportunities to receive free breastfeeding support, discuss infant feeding issues, and meet other parents.  The Breastfeeding Support Groups are intended for families with infant feeding questions and challenges.  They do not require an appointment and are open to the community.  Drop in anytime during group hours; each family's questions will be addressed in turn.  Many times, there are similar questions and concerns among families attending the group, which provides the opportunity for further exploration and connection.

Kate has been a lactation consultant since 2009 and has experience in hospital settings, clinic settings and with individual families.  She enjoys getting to know families and empowering and supporting parents as they navigate choices about feeding their babies.
NAP is lucky to have her join the practice!

Please take a moment to read this statement from the American Academy of Pediatrics on the effectiveness and safety of vaccines, and another moment to read this commentary on vaccines by Dr. Sanjay Gupta.
