Pediatric Services Northampton and Amherst
Northampton Area Pediatrics offers a full array of services to help your child maintain good health. We provide medical recommendations based on evidence and research and follow the American Academy of Pediatrics guidelines.
Well Child Visits/Immunizations
We are dedicated to the idea that prevention of illness is the best way to treat it. Through annual visits (more frequent for infants) we can get to know your child and your family and provide the personalized care that every child deserves. Screening tests done at each visit can pick up conditions early, before they become a problem. Anticipatory guidance can help you know what to expect and prepare for over the coming year.
Immunizations are one of the most important ways that we can keep our community safe and healthy. We follow the ACIP, CDC, and AAP guidelines on vaccines.
Same Day Sick Visits
We are committed to being available to see you and your family. We are open 365 days a year, with extended hours on weekdays and full day availability for sick visits all weekend long. We can handle most basic pediatric illnesses and injuries, and some complicated ones besides. If you have a serious or life threatening condition, please go to the emergency room.
Call our main line (413) 584-8700 and you will be connected to a nurse any time after hours.
For children with chronic asthma, regular visits help to make sure that your child’s asthma is under control. We can do exercise pulmonary function tests in the office, and can arrange home visits with a community nurse to review things that you can do at home.
In addition to the counseling and behavioral services provided by our in-house behavioral health team, NAP providers can manage medications for ADHD and anxiety with the support of the MCPAP program, a group of psychiatrists and care coordinators from Baystate and UMass Memorial. For children on chronic medications, we generally like to have children come in every 3 months.
We can see your child for a variety of issues including sports injuries, lacerations, wart removal and pre-operative visits. Our providers also offer conferences to discuss more complex issues like behavior and/or mental health. We have prenatal consults for expectant parents and meet and greets for older patients transferring into the practice.
Flu and COVID Vaccine Clinics
Our October Flu clinics are complete but we have opened some new dates in November.
Covid Vaccine clinics for ages 5-11 are taking place every weekend in November and December. Details below.
We have a top-notch team of nurses available to answer your phone calls or email messages. They can provide immediate advice, schedule same-day sick visits, and handle prescription refill requests as well as school forms or work letters. We ask that you give us 48 hours to respond to prescription or form requests. You can also contact your pharmacy to send us an automatic refill request.
Laboratory and Radiology Services
While not specifically associated with NAP, a Cooley Dickinson laboratory is available in our Northampton office and just down the hall from our Amherst office. The CDH phlebotomists are great with our patients and are open Monday through Friday from 8:30am to 12:30pm and 1:30pm to 5:30pm. Our Northampton office is located on the same street as Cooley Dickinson Hospital where there are more hospital services like Radiology & Imaging and lab stations.
While not specifically associated with NAP, the closest radiology services to our Northampton offices are the main Cooley Dickinson Hospital, or the Baystate King Street satellite office. In Amherst, Cooley Dickinson has a satellite office just down the hall.
We offer interpreter services through phone and video to meet patient needs.
