Acute Care Appointments

All of us at NAP would like to thank you for your patience as we rolled out our new Acute Care process last week. Like any big change, there have been some bumps in the road but overall, we think this has been a positive step forward in providing safe, timely care to all our children.

One major issue we have run into is the sudden increase in the number of appointment requests we are getting due to ongoing cold viruses circulating, the stomach bug, and strep infections that just don’t seem to want to fade away with the warmer weather! As a result, our call volumes and visit volumes are extremely high right now. To schedule a sick visit appointment, press option 1 on our phone tree. If you need a sick appointment urgently, please press option 4 to speak with a nurse who will advise on how to best help your child get the care they need.

We know there has been a lot of frustration from parents having difficulty getting through to our nursing line or scheduling a same day appointment. Please know that our staff is doing everything possible to meet the needs of each family and we will continue to make adjustments as needed moving forward.

Please also remember when booking Acute Care appointments – these slots are for NEW, URGENT concerns that cannot wait to be addressed by your primary doctor (PCP). The appointment times are 10 minutes long. Anything more chronic, complex, or not needing same day attention will need to be scheduled with your PCP. If an appointment is booked on MyChart for the Acute Care space that is not an appropriate type of visit, you will be asked to reschedule the appointment with your PCP.
