Scott Wagner, MD

Board-certified pediatrician

Scott Wagner, MD.

I grew up in New Hampshire and stayed within the state to attend Dartmouth College.  After college, I worked in Boston as a healthcare consultant in the areas of asthma, hemophilia and growth hormone deficiency.  In my free time, I enjoyed mentoring disadvantaged youth through volunteer opportunities in the city.  After working for several years, I decided to pursue my childhood dream of becoming a doctor, a profession offering greater connection to my local community.  After completing pre-med courses in the evenings (along with a lot of weekend studying), I was accepted to the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio.  Given my interest in helping at-risk youth, I naturally gravitated to pediatrics.  After medical school, I happily returned to New England to start my pediatric residency training at the University of Massachusetts Medicine School.

My daughter was born during my very first week of medical residency.  I quickly learned how to function adequately despite significant sleep deprivation!  As a doctor-in-training in Worcester, I took great pride in taking care of the sickest, most vulnerable children in central Massachusetts.  Towards the end of my residency, my son came into the world.  Throughout my pediatric training, I was fortunate to have the opportunity to nurture my own children and witness them develop.  Every day, I am struck by the biological and cognitive changes that occur from the newborn period through childhood and into adolescence.

I thoroughly enjoy working as a NAP physician.  I am particularly drawn to the practice’s dedication to the local community and its family-centered approach.  I look forward to sharing my joy of parenting with local families and working through the inevitable challenges that arise.  When not in the office, I can be found on a local bike trail.  I’ll always be wearing my helmet while biking and will be urging every one of my teenage patients to do the same!
