Needle Phobia Group
NAP’s Integrated Behavioral Health Clinicians, Adam Blackburn LMFT and Anjali Maticke LMHC, are piloting a group for patients with needle phobia. Currently, this group is for children aged 10-12 years. We hope to offer this group to younger children in the future. Patients must be in need of a vaccination to participate.
Group members will learn cognitive behavioral therapy skills such as relaxation skills, exposure response, and cognitive reframing to manage distress around needles.
These groups are offered Thursdays 3pm to 4pm with an injection attempt the following morning between 7am to 8am in the NAP office.
If you are interested in having your child participate, please reach out to Jenn Penza, behavioral health care coordinator, at 413-584-8700 ext. 237 or bhcc@napeds.com to schedule a brief phone call to ensure this group is a good match.
