I’m a Massachusetts native. I grew up in Worcester and lived there until I started my first year at Mount Holyoke College. Except for one year in California and living part-time in New Haven during my FNP program, I have lived in Western Mass ever since. I truly love it here.

I had medical interests starting in childhood and I became an Emergency Medical Technician in college. Volunteer work after college deepened my passion for public health issues. I detoured into a rewarding first career in public health. I worked at three western Mass health departments (Holyoke, Greenfield, and Amherst) and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. For many of those years I also worked part time for an ambulance service and for two community fire departments. Along the way I finished a graduate degree in Public Health at UMass Amherst.

In 2009 I finally decided to return to my clinical interests. Over the years several nurses were my role models. They were terrific leaders, educators, and advocates for the health of their patients and communities. So I headed to the Yale School of Nursing to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. I had the pleasure of being a student NP at Northampton Area Pediatrics for my last year of school. I was thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to join the team here in April 2013.

Fun facts about me: I met my husband when we were both Call Firefighters in Amherst. We became parents soon after my graduation from my FNP program in 2012. We have a very unusual looking and friendly elderly dog. I adore work at summer camps including nursing work at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp (a camp for children with serious diseases) and at my own childhood camp, Fleur de Lis Camp. In our free time my husband and I can be found at Dance Northampton, though this is far less often now that we are parents. I love being outdoors and will choose outdoor exercise whenever possible. My favorite place in the valley is the top of Mount Holyoke in Skinner State Park.
